Very enjoyable drama dealing with ethical & legal issue in Britain & a very different way of court procedures than US. IMO sure beats TV drama in States.

Martin Shaw is at his best as the sexy, uncompromising red judge who enforces the law as he deems just. The politicians who constantly attempt to stop him are foiled again and again with delicious irony.

If you like English courtroom drama at its finest, you must watch all four Judge Deed DVDs.
There are two more DVDs which contain the rest of the series before the CBC stopped production. Hopefully they too will be available from the library soon.

Very satisfying episodes. Martin shaw is a believable John Deed. Representing the voice of conscience confronting an ever invasive corruption of the ideal. All series highly recommended.

Once again the establishment is out to get Judge John Deed either removed from the bench or have him resign. Season four has six episodes rather than four episodes as in past seasons. The cases are all high profile, complex and full of judicial intrigue. The first case involves an alleged murderer that escaped custody years ago and has been recaptured. The second case revolves around killer gang members. The third trial involves the murder of a pedophile by a fellow inmate. The later three cases are interwined with physical threats against Judge Deed and Jo Mills. A rich industrialist and member of parliament are implicated in a cover up of fraud, payoffs and murder. Overall season four has a high level of drama and suspense with plenty of emotion as well.
