This is the 6th book of a Christian Historical series set in Kentucky in the late 1800’s. Didn't realize until recently that a couple of new books had been added so I’m catching up. The series starts with the 3 Troublesome Creek books which follow Copper and her family from teenager to marriage and becoming a midwife. Then it continues with 4 more Copper Brown books that follow her daughter, Lilly, who becomes a doctor. A charming, wholesome series with endearing characters that I’ve enjoyed.

This is a wonderful read. I read it within a few hours of checking it out at the library. The story keeps you turning pages and you are really drawn to the characters.

A very enjoyable novel about Dr. Lilly Corbett, who finds quite a few surprises upon her arrival in the mining community of Skip Rock, Kentucky. The story has a lot of charm and a very likable character in Dr. Corbett. I enjoyed reading about her and the maturity and new insights she gains as she grows to love the people she meets, including a handsome, enigmatic miner. I didn't realize this book was part of a series and I plan to go back and catch up on the previous books. The one downside of the story for me was not really feeling the connection and love between the two lead characters. It just seemed to appear without very much interaction between them. Reading the previous books might help with that. Otherwise, this can be read as a stand-alone book.
