Russo has rapidly become one of my favorite contemporary American authors in the past few months. Best know for "Empire Falls" and "Nobody's Fool," this handsome set (unfortunately bound together as one book at the library) has four small books in a slipcase, designed in collaboration with has daughter Kate. It's a tribute to the physicality-the tactile aspect that digital books can never replace-of the book, a boldly old fashioned statement in a world always clamoring for something new. The autobiographical "High and Dry" will be especially appealing to those who have read his novels and will see where he drew some of his material from.
