This was an awesome book, by an awesome author!

When Jack McKinley collapses in the middle of a busy street, he is whisked away to an odd place called the KI. There, he meets people that tell him he is descended from a prince and he has a special gene called G7W that is killing him. Jack meets other people like him, who have also collapsed and have the same gene. Jack discovers there are seven magic Loculi, special orbs that have astonishing powers. There are other forces after them, though. Jack and his new friends must protect these orbs if they are to save the world, although there is one other option-let the world end. With terrifying dangers, and intrepid story-telling, the Seven Wonders is a must-read for Percy Jackson fans!

This is a pretty good book.

This book reminded me a lot of the Percy Jackson series, which I love. I think due to that I did not enjoy this book. It was too similar .

This book was… very Percy Jackson-ish. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Believable characters and an interesting plot, but perhaps a lack of spellbinding writing and a definite lack of death (yes, Marco died but he came back to life; Professor Bhegad was sat on by a massive griffin AND HE DIDN'T DIE). Another thing is that the book needed a strong villain character. Like, monsters are okay and all, but every book needs some sort of sadistic, wicked, and repulsive villain, for example: Voldemort (Harry Potter), Kronos (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), Gaea (The Heroes of Olympus), the Adderhead (Inkheart), Alex (Reapers), Satan (Oracles of Fire), Victoria (Twilight), or the Emperor (Star Wars).
Percy Jackson was better. With more morals and stronger girl characters (like Annabeth). Ya know?
All in all, I rate 'The Colossus Rises' three stars.

I love how Jack doesn't seem to see his own gifts when comparing himself to so many of us. Jack's adventures and his connection to the other Select made for an enjoyable read.

Great read-alike for all those Percy Jackson fans out there! Main character, Jack, discovers he has a rare condition and must find the ancient spheres from Atlantis, hidden at the Seven Ancient wonders of the world sites, in order to find a cure. Working with Marco, Cass and Aly, who also suffer from the same condition and are 'selects,' they have an action-packed adventure! First in a series--definitely going to read the rest!

Fast paced and funny. This is a great series for anyone who enjoys Percy Jackson books.
