David Talbot describes a JFK administration more besieged by domestic enemies than has been previously realized, from within the Pentagon, the CIA, the FBI, and the mob. The nation's worst ills (and those of our victims abroad) were brought about by a small band of psychopathic "patriots" running the CIA and military upheld by broad, implicit Establishment/media support. This is well-analyzed, but the book fails to indict coup-plotter Lyndon Johnson. Which is more disgraceful: the murder of JFK -- or the continuing Establishment effort to shield the coup by defending the fraudulent Warren Report and seeking to frighten and ridicule conspiracy researchers?
