This documentary is amazing, and inspiring. The will to survive against all odds is strongly documented in this film.

This is a docu-drama originally released as a motion picture in 2012, adapted from Chris Nicola's novel "The secret of Priest's Grotto: a holocaust survival story."
Their harrowing story is unearthed by Chris Nicola, a cave explorer, who locates a few of the survivors and has them share their incredible story of strength and perseverance.
It is an inspiring tale of endurance.

Intriguing grim recapitulation of Jewish suffering (and response hiding in caves) under German WWII occupation of Ukraine/Eastern Poland.

Interesting production technique mixes dramatic reconstruction with narration by actual participants.

I agree with a previous commenter that the story was difficult to follow. It was a harrowing ordeal for these people hiding in that cave, but it was hard for the viewer to keep the perspectives of the various participants in some semblance of order. Could be written better.

Heart wrenching and powerful. A testament to the human spirit.

Although some of it might have been slicker, that isn't the point, really, for something like this, so I give it the full 5 stars. Moving and partly-dramatised doc, interspersed with interviews. Part of what it does is remind us that WWII anti-semitism was not the province of the Nazis alone; others (some Ukrainians in this case) were responsible for murdering Jews as well.

This story should have been told better than it was in this movie. It seemed to be very disorganized and difficult to follow. The way this was presented was an opportunity lost.

A HORRIFIC MOVIE. I'D RATHER BE SHOT BY THE NAZI'S THAN TO LIVE IN CAVES FOR 511 DAYS IN THE DAMP CAVES OF WATER , MUD AND SHIVERING COLD. WHAT A TREMENDOUS WILL TO LIVE. HOW CAN YOU LIVE ON FLOUR, POTATOES AND LIMESTONE WATER? AMAZING. HOW CAN YOU LIVE IN DARKNESS SO LONG?

Wow. That's all I can say about this movie. Absolutely incredible. The strength of this family and what they did to stay alive...and the man who found them to hear their story. WOW!
