I have read quite a few detective novels. So I have built up a few expectations about plot. This book shattered those expectations. This was a great introduction to J. P. Beaumont and sympathy for his character. I liked him from the start and at the conclusion. He moves from being lonely to being lovestruck. His partner (Peters) was one of the best supporting actors in any book I've read. I'd give Jance a "B" for her writing, but it was all it needed to be to keep everything moving and the suspense building.

Entertaining. Nothing memorable but good for a rainy day
