I listened to the audio book of The Lean and I found the advice clear, compelling and inspiring. The author espouses a vegan lifestyle and gives what seems to me like a sound argument for adopting such eating habits, but even though I'm not vegan I truly benefited from her practical advice. She gives easy to follow nutrition information, describing the benefits of vegetables, fiber and vegetable protein and healthy fats. She is supportive and gently encouraging. The reader is not the author and at first I didn't like her voice, but after a short while I discovered that I liked it a lot and I found myself cleaning the house listening. She speaks slowly and clearly enough that the author's message comes across. That message is to make sensible changes slowly, one good change each day, or when ready. Thus the title The Lean, since we're leaning in towards healthy choices. The change for the first day is to drink more water. See: totally practical advice!
