Sunrise is the final book in the Ashfall trilogy. It brings closure to the story of Alex and Darla and their survival in the post volcanic apocalypse. The super volcano in Yellowstone had erupted over two years ago. Alex and Darla have been through hell, and this book doesn't hold any punches. Alex strives to be the leader everyone seems to think he is. Together with the people he has met he hopes to bring together a community of survivors in the new settlement of Speranta. Along with the ever present threat of starvation, Alex also is busy defending his new home form sword wielding maniacs and roaming packs of cannibals.

The final book of a very entertaining fiction trilogy. It explores survival in a world where a supervolcano's ashfall and resulting perpetual winter has disrupted normal life. A realistic look at how people would cope in such a situation. This is a YA book but adults can enjoy it too.

hmmm………I'll admit I wasn't very happy with the way the series ended, but it wasn't the worst ending to a series that I've read. *cough* I'm talking to you brodi ashton. While I was sad to have Alex and Darla's story come to an end, I was slightly relieved, though I don't know why. Now I know. Darn you Mike Mullin, trying to kill off your characters early. Thank goodness they didn't actually die. You didn't have to make them lose their….oops. that would be a spoiler. Okay, now that I have that very short rant out of my head, I am ready to continue peacefully. Maybe. The book was really long . Like 550 pages of hard-core survival. A lot of it seemed unnecessary, like they were coming up with more problems so they'd have more stuff to do. All in all, I was disappointed, but happy at the same time and i'll admit i have no idea how to rate this book.
