Soooo slow moving and boring I couldn't watch another minute and shut it off. The first 15 mins has more random walking shots and filler scenes than dialogue. They even take plenty of time to follow a rabbit hoping around and a good shot of a dog sitting down in a chair! *snore*

This is one of my least favorite Jesse Stone films because it portrays the behavior of a raped adolescent girl completely wrong. Jesse finds the body of a girl in a lake and questions her prep school principal who calls her the "school pump" meaning she slept around. Her records indicate she was a model straight A student before attending that prep school but that all changed after a fundraiser for a famous author who is a known pedophile. About the same time Jesse discovers the dead girl is pregnant (with the author's child). A victim of rape, no matter how lonely or misunderstood, would never in a million years go back to her rapist and carry on a relationship long enough to get pregnant. Along with the ridiculously abnormal dialogue, this was one of Robert Parker's worst Jesse Stone novels. Tom Selleck should've passed on this one. The other side story is about a man who's been beating his wife for two decades. She finally leaves him at Jesse's insistance and when the husband tries to get her back, at gunpoint, he shoots Suitcase. I'd recommend you skip this one and watch any of the other Jesse Stone films.

The flawed but likable police chief returns in this TV movie, following Stone as he looks into the death of a girl- and the secrets surrounding her. Selleck captures the tone of the character in just the right way.

"Death in Paradise", 2006, stars the popular actor Tom Selleck, 61 years old. There's no paradise here. Jesse Stone is a unrecoverable drunk who runs a such a slow pace I have to slow myself down in order not to lose him. The story line here is dull and unpromising. Alcoholics probably like this depressing series.

Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone---- Death in Paradise - (DVD - 2007) ---- 2 3/4 stars ---- The book was far better! ---- I'll watch a few more of these: in hope that the show's improve. ---- RichardPaul (finished 2-8-13)

Based on the 3rd Jesse Stone book as the Paradise police chief appears to be getting past his ex-wife in LA and settling in his job. Love Parker's dry dialogue such as:

---

Chief Jesse Stone: He probably wouldn't be the town hero if he were ugly.
Lilly Summers: Well that's cynical.
Chief Jesse Stone: I prefer observant.
Lilly Summers: And being observant would make you cynical, wouldn't it?
Chief Jesse Stone: You seem observant.
Lilly Summers: I try.
Chief Jesse Stone: But you don't seem cynical.
Lilly Summers: Well, I'm in the hope business.
