This is an OK book to raise awareness of this issue, provide case histories, and suggested tips on strategy and taking good care of yourself. Really, what it comes down to is that old saying: "Fish rots from the head." Managing conflict can be difficult, but it's a fair expectation that a manager has these skills---or upon promotion to manager, is given immediate training and a mentor. (I won't ever forget a high-tech manager laughing and saying they became a manager because it seemed a safer way to avoid layoffs; not because they were genuinely interested in developing people's skillsets and careers.) Ignoring conflict opens companies to lawsuits and negative reputation in the community.
