The key to a stylish life is in the details, and the details are found in books! Giramonti presents a book-lover's guide to decorating, referencing sixty beloved works of literature. She shows how even the smallest elements, such as the blue china flowerpots perched on bright yellow stands depicted in The Age of Innocence, can bring life and personality to any room.

Great literature and decorating style is matched with home decor items. Kenneth Grahame, author of Wind in the Willows description of "The linen . . . . though it was clean of course, smelt beautifully of lavender." Anne of Avonlea is one of my favourite books. In Green Gables, she "made the tea table, a thing of beauty," by scattering roses in her own artistic way. Each item is mentioned with the book and then a description of how you could use them in your own home. Page 365 has a beautiful gold chair that just must be seen! Wonderful ideas, that are definitely worth a look!

Beautiful book with lovely connections to literature. I'll have to read some of the ones I've missed. I'll take this book out again I'm sure.
