Bjorn is a compulsive, meticulous bureaucrat who discovers a secret room at the government office where he works--a secret room that no one else in his office will acknowledge. When Bjorn is in his room, what his co-workers see is him standing by the wall and staring off into space looking dazed, relaxed, and decidedly creepy. Bjorn's bizarre behavior eventually leads his co-workers to try and have him fired, but Bjorn will turn the tables on them with help from his secret room.

Don't we all wish we could get away from our coworkers sometimes? In "The Room" Bjorn finds an extra room at work that only he can see. When he goes into the room he becomes better at his job but to his coworkers he looks like he is just staring at the wall. It reminded me a bit of the movie "The Boss of It All" and not only because they are both set in a dysfunctional Scandinavian workplace. A quick and quirky read.

Very good.

An updated Scandinavian version of Bartleby the Scrivener that makes the reader wonder: how can we ever really understand the difference between how we see ourselves and how we're seen by others. Very enjoyable novella that made me laugh aloud in a few spots.

Loved it! Perfect for books groups as it would make for a very interesting and no doubt lively discussion.
