Change is inevitable. People come and go. Jackie Peyton is no stranger, going from having it all to hitting rock bottom to getting some of it back. And Jackie is certainly getting her groove back. A weaker season than the four before it, it feels like the creators wrote themselves into a corner and so NURSE JACKIE lacked a bit of sparkle this time around. Its final minute is a shocking, jaw-dropping moment, but everything leading up to it in this fifth season was nothing spectacular. I can say with utmost confidence that a vanishing O'Hara and diminished Zoey (the fact that she won her Emmy this season is irrelevant) are major issues and an overdose on teenage Grace, Jackie's moody and spiteful daughter, is the mouldy cherry on a pile of disappointment. It all just felt like disjointed rambling with no tension, no purpose, no direction -- and the Jackie Peyton I know is always sure what direction she's going in and what she's going to do when she gets there. Sure,I'll continue to watch NURSE JACKIE because I'm in it for the long haul, but this fifth season was not a good showing.

Life is what happens to Jackie Payton. Great acting, as usual.

I find the series still good. Was wondering how Jackie would do with sobriety and all the other 'little' problems in her life. Looking forward to the next season.

“So, you want to have dinner?”
“I can't now.”
“That's good because I don't want to have dinner at one in the afternoon.”
