After dealing with narcissists all my life I found this book. I wish I had of read it earlier. I would like to add that it should be in print because I would have liked to flip back to earlier chapters a few times. I feel it's worth listening to and may listen to it again.

I feel duped and wonder if Wendy Behary has actual, lifelong and personal experience with a malignant narcissist, or if she's just "book smart" and decided to write about dealing with NPDisordered individuals. She encourages the VICTIM of the narcissist to exorcise unrelenting compassion and to approach the narc with humanity. If you've ever had an intimate relationship with a narc, you know they are reprehensible, remorseless pieces of crap and do not deserve your time or your compassion. I've read far better books that give VICTIMS of narcs better tools to repair themselves and either break of contact or limit contact with the narcissist.

I recommend this book to people who want to continue self-punishing by engaging with these sick individuals.

Mindfulness. It's what you need to practice when in the midst of a narcissist. Easier said than done. Might be worth reading this book again if I'm every truly committed to becoming effective in dealing with you know who.

Excellent book on how to deal with/live with a narcissist. It may not be possible to just walk away or ignore a narcissistic family member or co-worker. This book gives the reader coping strategies, insights into the narcissist's thinking, and how to avoid head-on clashes.

Probably one of the best books I read on the subject of dealing with narcissists. It was very informative and also helps to come to terms with their limitations.

The gist of what I gleaned from this book was to treat narcissists with respect and compassion, and to identify one's own personal triggers when communication with one can turn for the worse. This puts the onus on the non-narcissist to deal with the problem. I'd rather have a book filled with information that helps us recognize and avoid them all together, when possible. Or at to least create better boundaries so as to be able to keep this kind of person out of one's inner emotional sphere.

Very long-winded, vague definition of narcissism, which does not follow the standard set in the DSM-IV (psychiatrists' diagnostic "Bible"). The best way to deal with a narcissist is to completely cut ties and ignore him/her.

This is another short book directed at specifically helping someone deal with a narcissist. It could be used by a child of a narcissist, but is mostly aimed at the spouse. It contains useful exercises to help you determine whether narcissism is at play, and then help you determine how you deal currently with it.
