Beneath the myths of Camelot lies the truth of the presidency of John F. Kennedy. Patrick J. Sloyan, a young wire-service reporter during the Kennedy administration, revisits the last year of JFK's presidency to reveal a ruthless politician. As the president prepared for his 1964 reelection bid that never was, he buried the truth and manipulated public opinion. Using Kennedy's secret recordings of crucial White House meetings and interviews with key inside players, Sloyan reveals: President Kennedy's complicity in the overthrow and assassination of South Vietnamese president Ngo Dinh Diem, an event that planted the seed for a decade of jungle warfare and a nation divided; The secret deal to resolve the Cuban missile crisis that contradicts the popularized "eyeball-to-eyeball" account of Kennedy's dramatic showdown with Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev, who outfoxed the American president; Kennedy's hostile interactions with Martin Luther King, Jr., and the president's attempts to undermine the civil rights movement, which he viewed as destroying his reelection chances in the South. The Politics of Deception "is a revelatory look" into a JFK that few will recognize. Pulitzer Prize winner Sloyan reveals an iconic president and the often startling ways he attempted to manage world events, control public opinion, and forge his legacy. -- Publisher description

Somehow, these Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists incapable of doing basic research and reportage: reading obituary articles and checking into city and county records. Somehow they can never tell us the family backgrounds of Michael and Ruth Paine, Robert Mueller III, Valerie Schulte and John Kerry. Michael Paine is constantly described as a // radical \\, although he later becomes CEO of defense contractor Grumman?? Michael is also related to the ambassador to Vietnam, about to be fired by President Kennedy, Henry Cabot Lodge, on the Cabot side. Michael happened to be a cousin, once removed, to John Kerry, on the Forbes/Dudley side of the family. Ruth [Avery] Paine just happens to be related to the wife of John Foster Dulles [brother of Allen Dulles, one of the three CIA fired by President Kennedy, the other two: Richard Bissell and Gen. Cabell]. Ruth's sister and brother-in-law were career CIA. Being an Avery, means she was also related to the Rockefeller family. Valerie Schulte, so-called mystery witness in the Sirhan trial [Sen. Bobby Kennedy's murder], had an aunt and uncle who worked in the same classified section of Lockheed as did p.t. security guard, Thane Cesar, and her father worked at Technicolor Corporaton on a classified contract with Lockheed. Robert Mueller III, former CIA director, was the grandnephew of Richard Bissell, that other CIA guy fired by JFK, and his wife is the granddaughter of Gen. Cabell, the 3rd CIA type fired by JFK, making her the grandniece of the mayor of Dallas when JFK was murdered, Earl Cabell. Now, why couldn't any of thse liars-for-hire, or Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists, ever find this out on their own!!?????

More revisionistic assassination of President Kennedy, mixing a bit of fact in with much fiction. First, contradicting this book one might wish to read Andrew Cohen's book, Two Days in June, further contradicting this book, please read Donald Gibson's book, Battling Wall Street: the Kennedy presidency. Also, Thy Will Be Done, by Gerard Colby with Charlotte Dennett, will pose considerable argument, in thos sections covering JFK, to this revisionistic screed! These are just a few, but many more can be found out there. The cowards attack the dead, for the dead cannot respond. [When books like these are published, please recall that Kennedy wanted the CIA dismembered: JFK was murdered, the CIA lives on!]
