Excuse me, but is there anyone who doesn't adore this adaptation of Meg Cabot's classic YA novel The Princess Diaries? Seriously, I dare you to find someone who doesn't get absolute joy out of this movie.

All jokes aside, I really do enjoy this movie! It's hilarious, reminds me of the YA novels of the olden days (i.e. early 2000s), and is also just a really heartfelt story of self-acceptance, figuring out what you want, and learning to live your life on your own terms.

Bonus points for: San Francisco setting (a departure from the NY setting of the book), Julie Andrews as Mia's grandmother, and a chonky cat.

This movie was love at first sight! At first, I thought it was going to be like the average Disney princess movies like Cinderella…etc., but it was nothing like that at all! Anne Hathaway who plays the princess, Mia is a small-town schoolgirl and teenager trying to survive her normal school life. She then finds out some amazing news that she is a princess. She learns the rules and even the proper “look” of a princess! I loved the main character and her uniqueness. Her transformation from a normal girl to a real-life princess is always my favorite scene. I learned to always be yourself and even though you may change your appearance, you will still be you no matter what. I’d rate it a 5/5 stars because it’s great for all ages.

I quite enjoyed watching Disney’s The Princess Diaries! I thought that this movie was very unique, and had a very intriguing story line. The main character, Mia, is very likeable, and makes the film much more engaging for the audience. I thought that the story line was clever, and appreciated the well-balanced humour, action, and suspense. The revelation that Mia is really a princess was creative, and made for an interesting adventure and transformation! I think that this is a movie that people of various ages would enjoy, which is why I would definitely recommend that other viewers give it a try!

I have seen this movie many, many times, and just love it even more each time I watch it. I think that it is a bit more of a realistic approach to how a teenager may react and handle the situation if they found out they were of royal blood. I really loved the comedy throughout the movie. It’s hard to express in words the love that I have for this movie. I highly recommend that everyone watches this movie if they haven’t already. And even if you have already seen it (whether that was once or countless of times) I suggest that for your next movie night you choose this one as it will just brighten your day just a little bit more. Rating: 5/5

I'd seen the original a few times but it was nice to see it again bundled with the sequel which I'd only seen bits and pieces of. As for the original it was really cute and I loved Mia's transformation from ordinary teenager to Princess. Julie Andrews was beyond wonderful and I loved Hector Elizondo. Such a cute and funny movie..

As for the sequel, I admit that I lost interest a few times and had to re watch it twice, but all in all I really liked it. Loved the Princess slumber party and what makes sequels work is having most of the original cast. That was a define plus. Gary Marshall directed both of these movies and there is a slight nod to "Pretty Woman" in the sequel (unless I just imagined it).

For me the best thing about this DVD set was/were the extras. So many, including a Princess quiz, outtakes and a featurette on the making of the movie. It looked amazingly fun! I'm almost finished with "Royal Engagement" but I think I'm going to watch it again with the commentary featuring Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo.

Honestly I'm going to be sad when I have to return this to the library, but I will definitely check it out again!

GOOD 2001 Disney film with entertaining plot, acting, etc. Interesting view into millennial teen life. The main teen characters were amusing and well portrayed.
