LIke many of Meltzer's books, this is a conspiracy thriller that leads up to the Culper Ring novels that came later. I enjoyed it.

Clearly Meltzer can write and this novel is fast paced (but I wouldn't say a page-turner). The conspiracy stuff seems actually silly after a while.

I thought the book was pretty bad, with unrealistic characters and a weak plot
