Good narrator, mildly engaging setting, premise, and characters, slow paced story of descent into darkness and ruin. Only made it 3/4 of the way through the Drawing of the Three (book 2) before abandoning for a more engaging story. Didn't hook me.
Although not a SciFi fan at all, I found this pretty interesting and enjoyed the dreamy/nightmarish backdrop.
Get ready to join the world of Roland Deschain and the gunslingers. Great story! Be prepared to become addicted to the storyline!
Great atmospheric story with real grit and memorable characters. Reader George Guidall does a fantastic job.
Responding to Paisano, In my humble opinion this whole series is worth reading. I am a diehard King fan but will be the first to admit it's not for everyone. If you like Old West meets futuristic post apocalypse you'll love this book. If you only like King for horror I'd move on now. I listened to the whole series on audiobooks and would do it again in a second. When it doesn't seem to make sense remember that it took him something like 20 years to write the series. He probably didn't know for sure where the first book was heading either.
