"The zoo isn't what it used to be. It's run down, and Hippo hardly ever gets any visitors. So he decides to set off for the outside with his friend Red Panda. To make it in the human world, Hippo will have to become a Hippopotamister: he'll have to act like a human, get a job, and wear a hat as a disguise. He's a good employee, whether he's a construction worker, a hair stylist, or a sous chef. But what he really needs is a job where he can be himself"--Amazon.com.

A Fun and Funny tale of animals and problem solving. Early readers as well as graphic novel lovers will enjoy this tale of a lovable and clever hippo and his well meaning friend Red Panda. Disney and Scholastic comics author John Patrick Green's (not to be confused with John Green Teen author) debut children's book leaves me waiting for the next one.

A fast and funny graphic novel for younger readers. I loved watching Hippo try out different jobs, only to realize that the zoo needs him more than anyone else. Recommend for 2nd-3rd graders.

So cute! Join Hippo as he searches for his place in the world. I loved the art and that cheeky red panda!

Outside the confines of the zoo, Hippopotamister struggles to find his place in the world. With the help of his friend, Red Panda, he tries out various occupations (sous chef, banker, dentist, construction worker, etc) in search of the ideal job. A wonderful story of self-discovery. A great first graphic novel for picture book readers.

Red Panda leaves the zoo to find new jobs among the humans. Soon, hippo (renamed Hippopotamister) joins him in a series of disastrous job situations, until the right combination finally presents itself. Colorful, humorous, and easy to read. Grades 1-3.
