Species with Amnesia is a book I had a difficult time getting my head around. It challenges everything you learned in school about human history, evolution, culture, genealogy, and even geography. It is structured much like a murder mystery where the central question is not 'who did it' but 'what if much of humanity has been forgotten along with Atlantis?'. There is so much well presented evidence here that I will admit that my own views of our history have been changed. As the book goes on, though, I have trouble seeing the objective facts in some of the writer's theories. Much of the ideas are connected by myths and cultural similarities across the globe. Those backed by genealogy do have me convinced that a group of people do connect the 'New World' with Europe and Africa rather than the previously held belief that Native Americans arrived only by the land bridge between Russia and Alaska. DNA evidence has shown that not all Native Americans are related enough for this to be true. This book is definitely a compelling read but I will caution those with an eye for grammar and punctuation to hide your red pen while reading this lest you run out of ink. The editing is sub-par unless the author(a specialist of linguistics) MEANT to end with Aftantis rather than Atlantis.
