In 2012, jihadists took control of northern Mali, imposing one of the harshest interpretations of sharia law, and crucially for Mali, banning music. Radio stations destroyed, instruments burned and overnight, Mali's musicians were forced into hiding or exile where many remain even now. Follow Mali's musicians as they fight to keep music alive.

We loved it. The film introduces the viewer to a handful of musicians from Mali who are singers, guitar players, ... Their country is at war but these people are not victims. They are contemporary musicians. We hear them play & speak about their music & their lives. We recommend this film. It is highly enjoyable as well as being informative.

Pretty disappointing. I found it disjointed, with not enough focus on actual music. Not satisfying.
