I was expecting to read some juicy details about their relationship, but this book turned out to be mostly about Mayte's life and a modest peek into their time together. I still found it interesting, and somewhat emotional at the end. If you are interested in Biographies/Memoirs.. this is a great read.

This book constitutes a pernicious assault on Prince's character, frankly more dangerous even than the lawsuits Warner Bros. leveled against him over the years. It is a self-serving tissue of lies meant to detract from the enormous accomplishments of one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, merely in order to aggrandize the insignificant role of a tiny peripheral character who failed even to offer some loyalty in exchange for having been chosen as a companion. Beware: Prince is no archfiend or cheapskate -- he's a man who had to overcome staggering odds in upbringing and circumstance to become the Mozart of modern music. It is clear that Ms. Garcia failed to grasp even the tiniest scintilla of the man's greatness and capture it for a grateful reader. I was deeply disappointed by the writer's ingratitude and base stupidity.

This book is 1/4 about Prince and the rest about Mayte. A self serving writer who claims to have fought many battles in life. Instead of having understood the genius that touched her life, she went by unmarked. This book was "a waste of time" much like the woman who was married to Prince.

To me, the book was a huge disappointment. Mayte, after having been married to him and known him intimately for over a decade, reveals next to nothing about Prince's unique genius, his generous nature, his fight with himself and the world. If you want to know more about Prince, stay away from it, because it is painting an unrealistic, white-washed, or tainted picture of a great man.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading Mayte's account of life with her beloved Prince.

I got emotional towards the end of the book when she recounted the story of how her beautiful adopted daughter Gia came into her life ♥

Great read for Prince fans and those who love non-fiction on celebrity life

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. It was interesting to read how she met Prince and how things ended up. This story just proves even more how amazingly talented and unique Prince was. Such an extraordinary talent and beautiful soul. No one will ever replace him. They went through so much heartache and loss. It was actually really sad at times. But I loved their love story. A good read overall.

I loved this book!

A little choppy at times when Mayte goes from a present thought to a past memory, but all in all gives a revealing insight behind the personality of Prince the man & the icon. I always thought Prince had controlled & manipulated Mayte, but after reading this book I see that she was wise beyond her years. I hope she finds love someday in another man. It must be difficult to find someone else when a superstar like Prince was your first love. I am glad that she gave her side of their love story.
