A wonderful book! Tried some of the recipes too. And having read a lot on the healing properties of various herbs as well as foods (like almonds) I must say that there is very good overlap . I would love this title in my personal library!

This book is always available in the PlaneTree Health Information Center @ Cupertino Library. - BB 200 A 2011

The recipes are decent, the descriptions are informative (now I know what fenugreek is, and the difference between citronella and lemongrass oil) and the history/geography of the spices are entertaining. The author certainly seems to have an impressive academic and professional background. That being said, this book was a disappoinment. The author stretches the definition of spice somewhat in order to accommodate including almonds, which just seems odd. The health claims are extravagant and hard to believe. The author mentions studies proving his various points, without giving any details, which seems a tad sketchy and makes me doubt his details and conclusions.

Would like to purchase a copy of this book in the future for my own reference.

Wonderful view of spices as healing agents. I have some doubts about the complete safety of all of the spices; for instance, some spices are commonly contaminated or may not mix well with some medications.
That said, it is a wonderful starting point for research. I am following the cited sources and finding further sources within scientific journals.
