The sneakiest obstacle to meeting your goals is not laziness, but perfectionism. We're our own worst critics, and if it looks like we're not going to do something right, we prefer not to do it at all. That's why we're most likely to quit on day two, "the day after perfect"--when our results almost always underperƯform our aspirations. The strategies in this book are counterintuitive and might feel like cheating. But they're based on studies conducted by a university researcher with hundreds of participants. You might not guess that having more fun, eliminating your secret rules, and choosing something to bomb intentionally works. But the data says otherwise.

Jon Acuff does it again.

And what does he do exactly?

He kicks you in the pants with motivation and humor.

"Finish" was laced with light-hearted jokes and asides all the while giving you actionable and fact checked advice. Although, lots of the tips that he shares found within this book will feel like cheating or "duh" statements. But, self admittedly, that is his purpose. The point of the book should be obvious by its title - to get you to finish what you've started. But how he goes about that is the truly interesting part. He says (and gives stats and testimonials to prove it) the main enemy of finishing is perfection. And in my own life, this rings absolutely true.

So, what am I walking away with? A reinvigorated "can do" attitude, armed with sound ideas to push it forward. It's time to finish
