The protagonist is a strong female, but the movie seemed excessively violent and might give kids ideas in defying their parents.

I like this movie cartoon. It has some scary moments for young kids. It is not too sexual for kids. The CGI were great. It moves at at good pace. There is a moral story in the script. It may make you appreciate what you currently have and not wish more.

Beautifully animated movie with exciting story line and another lovable and lovely "Disney" heroine. Enjoyable if that's your kind of movie.

Loved it and my young girls were enthralled...especially my 3 yr old red haired "warrior princess". Unfortunately it stopped working in a couple spots, so had to forward to next scene.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much from this movie- the trailers made it seem like it had hardly any storyline. However after watching it I can say I was pleasantly surprised. It's not in the category of Toy Story or Monsters Inc, but it is still fun to watch. There would be some scary scenes for younger children but it should be fine for 5 years old and older.

OK, so, by now the name PIXAR is well known for children's animated movies. Think Toy Story (and the succeeding 2 movies), Cars (and the sequel), Finding Nemo, and many many others. When I watched this, I seriously wasn't expecting much. My family didn't like the whole witch-craft thing, so I didn't see this until WAY after it first came out. By the end, it just felt..."eh." I mean, as I read in another review (somewhere...), this movie just wasn't as good as other Pixar films. NOTHING in comparison with the greats. The story had PROMISE, and the idea of a movie set in Ireland was very interesting. But the characters were a bit...bland? Merida was ok, but she annoyed me a bit. Her mum was ok but we never really explored her that much. Her brothers (which, may I say, don't get a talking line in the entire movie) were kind of pointless. And the big climax character of Mor'du wasn't as BIG as you thought it would be. The story seemed very rushed. All in all, not horrible but definitely NOT my favorite.

Neither of the reviews included here, "From the critics", is about the movie "Brave". They're both about fire fighters. Come on, librarians, pay attention!
That said, my grand daughter and I loved the movie, "Brave", about the adventures and decisions Merida must make as the only girl child of a well-meaning but biased father.

An original storyline; not another telling of the same old thing. I greatly enjoyed it.
