Tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a promising young doctor who, devastated by the death of his mother during child birth, becomes obsessed with bringing the dead back to life. His experiments lead to the creation of a creature which Frankenstein has put together from the remains of corpses. The creature turns into a monster when Dr. Frankenstein rejects him. Sticking close to the original novel, the film guides us through the story of Frankenstein's quest for knowledge, and his creature's search for his "father."

I've seen this a few times and always liked it but this time around it seemed utterly laughable.
Frenetic pacing, over-the-top deaths, explosions blowing people all over the place, DeNiro losing his accent from time to time, Aiden Quinn not even attempting an accent. This was written by Frank Darabont (one of my fav writers) and ruined by director Kenneth Branaugh (who apparently wanted to show off his body A LOT). It was disowned by Darabont and producer Francis Ford Coppola after Branaugh turned it into this video game of a movie.

Saw this version in theater's when it first came out in the 90's. It became and remains to this day my fave (for what it is) the dramatics and the 'hollywood' of it are extreme at times and fast paced, but I think it's spot on for getting the feeling and message thru of what it must have been like for Victor, Elizabeth, his family, his colleagues, and his creation.

(First off... full screen not widescreen disc, ew!)
A little bit over dramatic and kinda cheesy at some moments. The acting seems a bit hokey at times but pretty decent film overall.

a classic gothic tale of obsession and huberis, A little overembellished to be a great movie, but it did have some spectacular scenes.

This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.
