If someone has a purpose, like, maybe that that purpose is love.
===
What's in the past is gone, and the future is just us. And without you, I don't know if I would even exist. I've never known anyone as good as you. I wish I could be more like that. I promise I will try to be. That I'll make you proud to hold my hand forever. I hope I die in your arms, 'cause this world is a very dark place. If I had to be in it without you, I'm afraid of what I might do.
===
Thank you so much for your interest in our story, and I think I'd like to get the story out there for people to know what he did what John did. And I know it's not gonna be an easy story to tell, probably won't make me look very good but but I I'd like for it to help some people and maybe help some women to know what to look for and to know how to avoid this happening to them and and if that's possible then it'll be worth it to me. So I hope you'll call me back, and, uh, I look forward to talking to you.

Debra Newell.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.
- You love that one.
Mm.
-You love the whole Book of Proverbs, but you really love that one.
Because it's true. He directs our paths.

God has given us all of this love we have for each other. Long ago, He showed us who you are. So we love you. Still.
===
Can I just say one thing before you go? All those times that I said that you deserve the best? I meant it. You're incredible. I lied. I lied about me, about my past, about my job But not about you. I never lied about how much I love you, ...
===
I see a lot of people loved ones who have that look you have. That thousand-yard stare.

It's a real blessing we can do what you love.
===
Don't ever let your houses have anything that you don't know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.
===
If you weren't so unselfish and kind, maybe I wouldn't love you as much as I do, but I wonder what would happen if one say you said to your kids, "I am done doing everything for you." I just want to see you put yourself first for once. You deserve that.
===
When I think about Christmas, and the season that we're all in, I think about the ultimate gift. The the gift of love.
It's a love that is wrapped in giving, and not getting.
It's a love that is given even though we're not ready to receive it.
No, it's a sacrificial kind of love.
It's the love that God gave to the world.
For God so loved the world, that he gave.
And he was expressing his love to us in a way that we would reflect his love.

If you were me, what would you do? Would you leave?
- Stay in hotels or places you've never stayed before. Dye your hair, probably. Make yourself a difficult target.
===
Uh, this is an RV? Been impounded for 16 months.
-Yeah.
Wonder what you could've been up to all that time. Let me guess, you were a guest of the state?
-Wonder what you did to get yourself a sweet gig like this, huh? Did you shoot a taxpayer in the back?
===
I guess no answer's an answer.
===
Have you ever heard of a criminal defendant with ongoing restraining orders from multiple unrelated women, multiple judges signing off independently.
- That the mom knew about?
She had to know something. A history like his? There's always a red flag. I'm always amazed how guys like that get away with it. I'm amazed she let him get away with it.
-I just hope she knows how lucky she is.

A true crime thriller on the disturbing courtship and marriage built on lies between Debra Newell and John Meehan from October 2014 to August 2016. Based on the investigative LA Times report in the 2018 novel "Dirty John and Other True Stories of Outlaws and Outsiders" by Goffard, Christopher.

Also, the Title card states that the series is based on the OCT. 1, 2017 latimes.com article by Christopher Goffard:

The miniseries closely follow a real story that first appeared on one of NBC's Dateline programs a couple of years ago. There are eight episodes (could've been shorter and just as good), with all those flashbacks that are so popular with movie makers (ten years ago, three months ago, then back to the present, etc). But the story itself is fascinating, the ending is absolutely amazing. The acting is very strong. Eric Bana is so good that you forget he is an actor playing the role. Very entertaining. I highly recommend it.

It's based on a true story. If it helps other women to avoid deception and danger than that is a good thing.
