From 1958 to 1963, American actor Rick Dalton knew the height of fame and fortune as the lead in the television series Bounty Law. Yet, Rick wasn't satisfied with the work and used his popularity to try to become a movie star. By 1969, Rick's career has stalled so much that he takes jobs as a guest star on various shows. He even starts wondering if the only way he can make a comeback is by acting in Italian productions. Cliff Booth, Rick's long-time friend and stunt double, helps him see that possibilities for success still exist in the Los Angeles film industry if they work together.

For all the big names in this, you’d think it would be better. Made it less than a half hour and was falling asleep, at 4 in the afternoon. What a snooze fest!

There appears to be a love / hate relationship with this film based on the comments I've read.
I can honestly say both sides have a valid point. It's a bit tricky to follow the many subplots to this one, but Tarantino loves to make it a challenge. He clearly puts his love of fifties and sixties Hollywood on display. DiCaprio definitely shines in this one and the ending is bananas. That being said, this may not be for everyone, but It's a good movie to break up the binge watching of endless TV series.

Was a little disappointing. Meandering, not as gory as other Tarantino films but it was still interesting nonetheless. The ending was not what I was expecting.

Amazingly acted movie. The movie is supposed to be an alternate reality to real life tragedy in Hollywood is Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth actually existed.

While complaints of its meandering narrative are understandable, I found "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood" absolutely enthralling! Though there were many highlights & fantastic performances, the "buddy cop"-nature of the relationship between DiCaprio & Pitt was supremely magical. If you're thinking about watching this movie, do yourself a favor & read up on the story juuust a little beforehand.. or hey, go in blind & enjoy the ride! :)

Not terrible but now that I have seen it, I know I could have done without it. Thought Pitt was better than de Caprio. Just so much strong profanity though. No recommendation on whether to watch or not watch. I do know I would much rather watch a BBC or Acorn cop series.

What the ?!@#? Glad I didn't pay money to see this in a theatre. Very messy storyline bumping into the Charles Manson murder spree. Nevertheless, Di Caprio is stunning in his demanding role.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. After the first 45 minutes or so, I still didn't know where the film was going. I watched the whole thing--2 hours and 40 minutes of it, which was a total waste of time. It was way too long, disjointed, boring--and over all, just gross!

I thought acting by Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio was excellent. However, after almost 2 hours, I was still not sure where the story was going. Fortunately, the story lines did come together quickly after that for a dramatic conclusion. Overall, not a bad movie, but a bit too long; with too much of the movie used to set up the characters and backstory.

Great movie. Very entertaining. It really holds your attention.

I remember KHJ and the real Tom Steele; loved the soundtrack, too.

Pity that the twist ending (the Sharon Tate murder) is not how it went down in real life.

46 quotes posted in IMDb already. Thanks to its contributors. The best lines come from the brilliant little woman Trudi Fraser (Julia Butters):

I believe it's the job of an actor - and I say actor, not actress because the word actress is nonsensical - it's the actor's job to avoid impediments to their performance. It's the actor's job to strive for one hundred percent effectiveness. Naturally, we never succeed, but it's the pursuit..that's meaningful.
That was the best acting I've ever seen in my whole life.
-Thank you.
I don't like names like 'Pumpkin Puss'... but since you're upset, we'll talk about it some other time.
***If you want more of the wise-beyond-her-years Trudi, watch one of the deleted scenes when Trudi welcomes her two step-brothers (Timothy Olyphant as James Stacy and Luke Perry as Wayne Maunder) who have just ridden in town from a wagon.
