Fantastic idea, great concept, perfect title. Too many sex scenes and excerpts from the "novel" inside the novel for my taste; rather have the reading time and the narrative focus on the main characters and their issues outside the bedroom. The writer is much better at writing contemporary than Victorian, and the novel that's supposed to be teaching the romance lessons sounds more like a parody, unfortunately. I'm glad I read it but I'm afraid to read another.

I absolutely loved the whole idea of this plot, and it was funny seeing men solving real-life issues with the guidance of a regency romance novel. And they had rules, too! It's an entertaining peek into the lives of athletes, their marriages, and the lengths friends go to to support a teammate in jeopardy of losing everything. I wonder if there are bromance book clubs out there for real? We women can only hope! 4 stars.

Just read this book as a review for a book review website. It is hilarious, heart-warming, and adorable. High marks from me. :)

Take a baseball player at the top of his game with a marriage on the line and invite him to a book club. This book club has men reading romance novels so they understand how to relate to their wives. It is a refreshing twist on the second chance love story. Gavin (grew up with a stutter) and Thea (her father nicknamed her "Shotgun") have some baggage to unpack and this book deftly explores those themes. What I appreciate most is the message to work hard to preserve the marriage you are in. A wise pastor once asked his congregation: "How do you know you are married to the right person?" Answer: "You're married to them!" (Sadly there are desperate situations where abuse or illegal activities are occurring and this does not apply.)

Super cute and a bit sexy. This will be the book to give people who spout misconceptions about the romance genre and its readers.
