The Fault in Our Stars is a book written by John Green in 2012. It is about a 16 year old cancer patient who falls in love with another cancer patient from the same support group. This book can be considered a romance between the two teenagers as they look to defeat cancer together. This inspiring and beautiful book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions with bits of sadness, humour and anger. This book truly takes a look at life in a different perspective and shows that there is a meaning to life. I would recommend this book to anyone aged 15 or higher, and give it 5/5 stars. @shafyy of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board The Fault in Our Stars is a teen romance novel written by John Green. The novel follows the story of a sixteen year old girl named Hazel Grace Lancaster, who was diagnosed with cancer when she was younger. Her whole life she knew she would not live long because her cancer was terminal. Hazel Grace educates herself at home and does not leave her house often. However, everything changes when her mom takes her to a cancer kid support group when she meets a boy named Augustus Waters. Augustus, cancer free now, shows Hazel a different look upon life for when you feel that yours may end. If you are into teen romance novels than this book is definitely for you. I would highly recommend this novel for people twelve and up because there are some very mature themes in the novel. The Fault in Our Stars is also an easy read, a book great for picking up and putting down. If you enjoyed other John Green novels I would recommend reading this one too. Overall, if I had to rate this novel, I would rate it four out of five stars. - @Sapphirereads of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library This book was so much fun to read. This is a very emotional book, with many good messages throughout. The genre is Young Adult Fiction/Romance. Hazel (main character in the book) really grows into herself as the book continues and that was fascinating. The book was unexpected and always left me wondering what will happen in the next chapter, so I couldn’t put it down. This book is appropriate for kids and there isn’t much vulgar language. I wish that we could meet more characters in the book to really understand it. I had to read the book two times to fully understand it, and after reading it the second time I realized how much I missed the first time I read it. I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars because of the emotional factor. - @terrificbooklover of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
