The third instalment of the Lorien Legacies series "The Rise of Nine", is really where the war begins. The last two books of course feature battles between the Garde and the Mogadorians, however the conflict between the two races really starts to pick up in this book. When we meet Nine (another member of the Garde), I immediately loved his personality, and hit short witted sense of humor. He's always throwing dark jokes around at the wrong moments, and it really highlights and brings out the good even in the worst of situations. That, combined with his constant bickering with John (Four), and your in for joy ride of "friendly" verbal exchanges. Nine's also a force to be reckoned with, because he has got such a violent bone. But it's so awesome, because his ruthlessness in contrast to the other Garde's rather calm demeanors, make him the odd one out in the sense where he just can't hold back his homicidal urges like the others can. I also feel like the relationships between the Garde are well displayed in this book, which connected me a little closer to each character after hearing just a little bit of their pasts. So I'd definitely recommend this book, and would say it's a great addition to the Lorien Legacies series. @ShepReads of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The Rise of Nine was the best book in the I am Number Four series so far in my opinion. It fixes the problem the last book had of one narrator having a more interesting story than the other, while at the same time adding a third narrator. This book has more action sequences than the others so there isn’t as many dull sections as there was in the previous books. Lore brings new characters in with interesting stories of their own that make you care about them, while still adding onto existing characters. Lore also did very well on the ending of the  book, as it was written as well as the rest, but made you want to see what happened next in this story. While this book was an improvement there were still problems, the narrator switching can be confusing as like in the last book it is only a text change. Most characters are developed great, but there are some that I feel could have been developed better. Overall this book is very well done with less problems than the last books, but still has room for improvement. - @TheBookieMonster of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
