I chose this mystery because it is nominated for an Anthony award for 2016. The awards will be presented at this year's Bouchercon in September in New Orleans Yay, can't wait! Although I am not familiar with the author nor with this series of mysteries, I enjoyed this third installment. The author has created a complex, interesting protagonist with an active social life and an ability to hold her hard liquor. Mr. Ziskin has an admirable sense of time and setting - I felt like I was really there in New Holland. The story takes place in early 1961 - right before JFK's inauguration. Although I can't say that I liked the sexism that Ellie Stone endured, I did appreciate the references. (Ditto for the racism and classism that other characters experienced.) I'm looking forward to reading the first two books in the "Ellie Stone mystery series." Plus, the fourth one was just recently released.
