There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed, and parts that I really did not. Golden did a wonderful job building the atmosphere and suspense in the first half of the book. Mount Ararat was a character in its own right, and the claustrophobia of being in a mountain cave during a blizzard really affected me. There were interesting philosophical moments as the characters discussed Noah's ark and the existence of God and evil. But in the second half of the book the body count started to rise, and I found it hard to finish. Religious speculation and mystery was replaced by extremely graphic violence and a decidedly NOT happy ever after. If that's your thing, go for it! If you appreciate your horror a bit more psychological, maybe steer away from this one.
