My rating is divided into 2 parts - 2.5 Stars for the first 20 chapters and 4.5 Stars for the last 6 chapters. The first 20 chapters resembled chick lit in an office setting with very little to no romance. In fact, the romance was basically non-existent until chapter 21. Those first 20 chapters focused heavily on office politics and the careers of Carter and Evie when they're pitted against one another after a merge. During those chapters, I was more entertained by Carter and Evie's friends and family. When chapter 21 arrived with some much needed romance and plot twists, I was more than ready. Along with the romance, the story also picked up full speed with the banter and antics that Christina Lauren is known for. I found myself giggling and intrigued by the comeuppance of a misogynistic boss. Although it ended on a high note, it just took way too long to get there in order to make up for the first 20 chapters.
