The voice of our First Lady, Michelle Obama, comes through loud and clear in this engaging memoir. Beginning with her childhood in the Southside of Chicago and ending with the inauguration of her husband's successor, Mrs. Obama lets the reader into her world as she saw it. While her husband's activities as a community organizer have been well known for some time, we discover that after deciding that the practice of law was not for her, she too became engaged in her community through the University of Chicago as well as a Chicago medical center. She was never particularly interested in politics and forcefully rejects any idea that she should ever run for office, but was selfless enough to agree to her husband's following through on his political ambitions. Many women (including me) will see parts of themselves in her story. Highly recommended.
